When should i wear contact lenses instead of glasses?
For those of us that don't have perfect vision, the age-old question is "should I get contact lenses or glasses?" While both have their pros and cons, it really is dependent on your personal preferences and lifestyle. Check out the video below to see why contact lenses might be preferable over glasses, or read about some differences here!
Pros of Contact Lenses
1) Different types
Just because you had contact lenses you didn't like once doesn't mean you can't wear them! Soft contact lenses are great because they are comfortable and easy to get used to, but if you weren't a fan of them, maybe hard contact lenses are for you. Hard contact lenses provide sharp, crisp vision and are better for people who have dry eyes because they are breathable with less chance of infection.
2) No peripheral distortions
Because contact lenses sit directly on your eyes, there are no peripheral distractions or changes in vision that could cause headaches.
3) Easily play sports and do activities
Contact lenses are also good for sports and physical activities. While glasses have the chance of breaking, falling off, or sliding down, contacts are much easier to do things in.
4) Do not fog up
Glasses often fog up when the temperature changes dramatically or you are caught in rain or snow. With contacts, you don't have this issue!
5) No chance in appearance
While some people do not like the aesthetic change glasses make to your look, you will not have those issues with contact lenses! Unless you choose to wear colored contact lenses, you will look exactly the same whether or not you have contacts in!
Though these are all great benefits of wearing contact lenses, they do come with some difficulties. For instance, you need to properly sanitize and store them in order to lower the risk of infection. If this really bothers you but you still want to wear contacts, try daily disposables, which you throw away when you take out!
