Ray-Ban Wayfarer Sunglasses

Ray-Ban Wayfarer sunglasses first appeared in the early 50s and till this day have paved the road for a new, simple, and functional pair of sunglasses.

Following the iconic Ray-Ban Aviator's success, Bausch & Lomb introduced a low-key style that has revolutionized the eyewear industry with Ray-Ban wayfarers. Many other brands have re-created the wayfarer frame design by adding their personal touch. Why? Wayfarer frames are one in a kind and deviate from classic metal frames to the understated,  yet high-quality, plastic frames.

Ray-Ban wayfarers are easy to style and simply make for a great pair of sunglasses to sit on the faces of anyone, all the way from Hollywood to common people walking along the Walk of Fame.

No matter the vision correction you need, colour preference, face shape, or size you have, you’ll find the right pair of wayfarer sunglasses for women, men, and kids at SmartBuyGlasses

Which Ray-Ban wayfarer is the best?

All of them? If you are looking for simple but cool Ray-Ban sunglasses then wayfarer frames are a must-have.

Ray-Ban wayfarer frames come in slightly different styles accompanied by classic black or stylish coloured lenses. The best option is will depend on your fashion taste and whether or not you want to rock an iconic frame.

You may even want to vamp up the classic frame with a pair of Ray-Ban folding wayfarers - who wouldn’t want sunglasses that can easily fold up and fit anywhere?

You can always be stylish but easy-going with a pair of Ray-Ban wayfarer sunglasses.

Do Ray-Ban wayfarers suit everyone?

You may not be a president, a boxing champion, or one of the Blues Brothers but you might just have the right face, style, and attitude to fit in the wayfarer gang.

Ray-Ban wayfarers can suit most face shapes but not every face. Your skin complexion and head size also play a part when choosing wayfarer frames. Usually, oval, round, or heart-shaped faces are complemented by a trendy pair of classic or new wayfarers.

Maybe these few pointers can help in choosing Ray-Ban wayfarer sunglasses to match your style and your face:

• If black is your go-to colour and you have a fair or medium skin complexion you may want to change it up. Black wayfarer frames can overpower your skin tone so try a classic tortoiseshell instead

• An oval or round face shape can look quite dandy with a pair of Ray-Ban wayfarer sunglasses tinted with gradient brown lenses embedded in a trendy tortoiseshell frame. The angular shape of wayfarers helps create a contrast with round faces

• Try different colour lenses, like bright reds or oranges tones to go with a darker skin complexion and make your face pop. Remember, however, to add on protective lens coatings to fully enjoy your sunglasses and protect your vision

• Try to avoid wayfarer frames in white or bright colours as they might be a little too flashy and ‘kill’ the chill vibe of classic wayfarer frames

What is the difference between wayfarer and wayfarer ease?

Both the Classic Wayfarer and New Wayfarer frames (the Ease) look great - can’t deny it! But they do present some variations in size, frames, and even colours.

1. New Wayfarers come in a variety of colours for both frames and lenses. Classic Wayfarer frames come in mainly black and brown tones

2. The frame tilt is also a significant difference as the original Ray-Ban wayfarer sunglasses have a pantoscopic tilt. This tilt is a forward angle that, depending on your face          (diameter, size, etc.), allows for more light to enter from the top of the glasses. New Wayfarer frames do not have this tilt

3. New Wayfarer frames are also lightweight and have more of a modern touch

4. Generally original wayfarers come in 50 or 54, with 54 being a bigger fit. New Wayfarer frames come in a 52, 55, or 58

What size wayfarer should I get?

Before you decide which pair of Ray-Ban wayfarer sunglasses to choose, you’ll need to have in mind what size will fit correctly.

Start by determining which is your ideal size by:

1. Looking at the measurements on your current pair of glasses (on the inside of temples)

2. Measuring it yourself with a ruler. Stand in front of the mirror and place the ruler between your temples, then refer to our size guide to find your perfect number

Original Wayfarers in size 50 are a general fit and will suit most faces. If you have a larger face then maybe the 54 wayfarer frame can better cater to your face size. If you find that any pair of sunglasses you pop on fit, then a size 50 should be your glass slipper.

The New Wayfarer frames have a more modern feel and a more comfortable fit. As the size changes so do the designs, so with a bigger size the lenses will have less tilt. The 52 New Wayfarer size compared to the larger frames will have a shorter lens.

But let’s say standard or large frame sizes aren’t your glass slipper and always find a way to slip down your nose, then you might have a low nose bridge. If you have a low nose bridge or flat facial features then you may want to try Ray-Ban Asian fit sunglasses

Rest assured that there is a glass slipper (wayfarer frame) to fit any face shape and size!
