Our traditional mountaineering sunglasses are timeless classics symbolic of our history with the mountains. Rock stars, mountaineers and Julbo fans from all walks of life have praised them to the skies. To celebrate our 125th anniversary and to give our fans the sunglasses they expect, we have reissued the legendary Vermont. This is our traditional mountaineering model with round lenses and leather side shields.

I was excited at finally finding these glasses at smartbuyglasses. Unfortunately I have to say, I was very disappointed with the quality of the glasses I received. For the price, I expected a sturdy pair of outdoor glasses that would last many years. Instead, everything about the frame looks flimsy, plasticky and not well put together. When I received the glasses, the right leather shield had already come loose. (See photo). I had to remove the lens, use glue to stick the flimsy plastic edge of the shield to the frame, and then fiddle with the lens and the frame screw to put it all back together again. When I tighten the frame screw, the lens tends to pop out. There is no way the glasses will withstand a day on a ski hill without losing a lens. I have bought glasses for less than 1/20th the price at Firmoo and Goggles4u that are much, much better quality and much sturdier than this pair.

To get started, you'll need a mirror, a ruler with millimeter (mm) measurements – or even better, a flexible tape measure – and maybe a friend to help ensure accuracy. You’re going to use all of these to work out the necessary frame width, bridge width, and temple length of your glasses.

Frame Width

The frame width is the total horizontal length of the glasses. To find this, measure the distance between your temples by looking in the mirror and placing your ruler or measuring directly over your face, above your brow. Record all the measurements in millimeters.

Bridge Width

The bridge width of glasses is the distance between one lens and the other.

To get the corresponding measurement at home, place the ruler on the bridge of your nose and measure its width.

The bridge width usually ranges from 15 to 25 mm.

Temple Length

Temple length refers to the arms of the glasses. Measure from the edge of your eyebrow all the way around your ear, to where you want the tip of the glasses temple to reach, as demonstrated in the image below.

Most temples have a bend to hook over the ears, so ensure the length you choose accommodates this curve for a snug fit.
