They’re one of the most successful companies in the world, and one of the ‘Big Two’ sportswear manufacturers. Everyone’s heard of them. However, Adidas took a slightly unconventional route to the top. Keep reading to find out more and our top eyewear picks from the famous brand!

History of Adidas

In 1924, brothers Adolf (Adi) and Rudolf Dassler collaborated to start a company – Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory. In the following decades, this little footwear brand made great strides (pardon the pun) in the development of athletics shoes. At the 1936 Berlin Olympics, Adi persuaded Jesse Owens to wear his specialized running shoes; it seemed as if this fraternal partnership was leading to something special.

Alas, the two brothers grew apart in 1949, culminating in the split of the Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory into two rivalrous sports brands – Adidas (a portmanteau of Adi Dassler) and Ruda (from Rudolf Dassler), the latter of which would eventually rename itself as Puma. Their hometown of Herzogenaurach remains culturally divided between the two brands.

In the years since, Adidas have cemented their financial lead over Puma with their reputation as a high-quality, reliable source of sporting goods, alongside staking their claim in the fashion accessories world with the sunglasses below.

Adidas Sunglasses (Men’s)

Adidas A40405 RAYLOR L 6101

Adidas cricket sunglasses

These sporty Adidas sunglasses are a great value option for any outdoor enthusiast looking for some high-performance eye protection. These shades ensure your eyes are protected, no matter the activity, with transparent blue plastic wraparound frames and pink mirror lenses. The fact that they’re all-plastic doubles down on the protection element; these glasses are as stress-resistant as they come. Their wraparound nature is really useful for lots of different sports, so if you’re looking for Adidas cricket sunglasses, you’ve come to the right place!

These shades come in a cool translucent grey material that deftly blends Adidas’s signature styles – on the field and on the street. With slick grey frames and matching grey lenses, these are a well-priced neutral color palette option for any sporting guy’s (or gal’s, they are unisex after all) wardrobe. Their smart rubber nose pads and fitted temples mean that they’re not falling off any time soon either!

Adidas Originals AOM003 009.000

Adidas sunglasses

Straying away from sportswear and more into the fashion zone, these Adidas sunglasses are a cool streamlined metal option for your eyes. Additionally, the double bridge design adds that touch of vintage flair. With black full-rim pilot frames and grey lenses, you just can’t go wrong. Simple, stylish, cool. The first Adidas Originals pair in our list sets the bar for the rest.

Adidas Sunglasses (Women’s)

Adidas Originals AOR032 057.000

These chic women’s frames are one of a range of colors, but we love this burgundy design in particular. They’re exceptionally well-priced, to start. They combine the aforementioned burgundy coloring in the frames with some lovely gradient red frames and signature Adidas Originals detailing on the temples.

Adidas Originals AOK003 Polarized 149.PLR

Adidas sunglasses

A personal favorite among our team, these polarized sunglasses have got quite a few great design features going for them. First off, that tortoiseshell patterning. It’s a really unique color choice – you don’t see a lot of blue flecked tortoises, after all. These combine really well with the minimalist stainless steel temples and nose pads. They don’t skimp on function either; these Adidas sunglasses are polarized, purposefully designed to protect your eyes from glare and enhance your vision on bright days.

These wild frames are a really funky design, bound to start a conversation. They’re a really vibrant design to round off the list, for sure. If you’re looking for that Y2K or clout glasses aesthetic, look no further. They might look like they’ve been pulled from an Apple catalogue, but the combination of the transparent blue frames and darker blue lenses is, in our books, a real hit!
