Best Hollywood Sunglasses

One of the hottest films of late, Sherlock Holmes 2, displays an amazing number of sunglasses on the primary character played by Robert Downey Jr. This despite the fact that the film takes place in 1890. Still, the shades he is wearing have the distinctly cool look of a bygone era despite being excessively modern.

For a similar look, try Oliver Peoples’ bold circular lenses, which Larry David has made more popular in his TV series Curb Your Enthusiasm. Not to mention the popularity added by the success of the Harry Potter empire. Still, these slightly more modern rounded shades are hard to pull off when not on a set. Consider a more approachable option with something less film prop and more functional. This is especially true of the tiny, square framed lenses Holmes wears in the film. A similar look by Police sunglasses are a more adaptable and preferable.

Some of the other looks to emulate in a more modern way include the looks made popular in Bridesmaids, where sunglasses are used more as a hangover tool than as a means of blocking the sun. Still, the oversized shades popular in Prada or Dior remain a top seller for beautiful women, especially those with a propensity for the drink.

Robot boxing flick Real Steel with Hugh Jackman shows us once again why Jackman was one of the hottest men alive. His fashion is always simple and stark, and yet approachable. Flannel shirts, white T-shirts, jeans and simple men’s sunglasses by Serengeti or Police make him one of the most simple fashion looks to mimic.

High fashion doesn’t have to mean low-brow environmental habits, in fact, many of the world’s most fashionable brands are going green. Help save the world, one beautiful piece of clothing or designer accessory at a time. Here’s how Prada is saving the world with accessories.

High-end items are made more durable and resilient than their cheaper counterparts, and as such they source more natural and lasting materials for their products. A Gucci purse, for example, will last years with normal wear and tear before it ends up in a landfill, polluting the earth. Thus, the one production cost (in terms of carbon credits and pollution) is minimal compared to the life of the item. This is in stark contrast to cheaper items, fakes and low-quality gear. While you may save money by buying cheap stuff, it ends up hurting the environment when it ends up floating in the ocean or rotting under the earth. Think green and buy one high-end item that you know will last.

Since designer companies use high-end materials you can be sure the cottons are authentic and not produced synthetically. Fake fabrics have a heavy chemical cost to the environment, and bleaching, dying, starching and creating cheap fabric is one sure way to pollute the earth with waste materials, but also with an excess of chemicals. The more natural a product, the better. And high-end gear is traditionally made of high-end materials that don’t have the same negative effect as cheap, knock-off fabrics and materials. Think green, and go designer.

Winter is a sad season, sometimes. It’s hard to get motivated to get sexy or dressed up when you know you’ll be swaddled in blankets and coats and scarves and hats to the point that any work you put into your wardrobe will be wasted once the first wind picks up and freezes you to the bone. Birthday Gift Wish List

Every year on my birthday I get gifts that I don’t really want. Sock? Really grandma? This year I’m making a list of all the birthday gifts I actually want. If you have a friend or relative who is female, between the ages of fourteen and forty, this list will work for you.

Sunglasses. This is something I need to stay safe and protect my eyes, but it’s also a fashion item I can’t afford for myself or else don’t want to spend my own money on. Designer sunglasses are the only way to go. Here’s how I benefit as the recipient: I get a healthy item to protect my eyes, and I get high fashion, so I look cool. Plus I wear them all the time so I’m constantly reminded of the person who gave me the gift. The best brands for women are Prada, Dior, MiuMiu, Jimmy Choo, Alexander McQueen and Tom Ford. Any of these brands will make any true woman’s eyes pop with glee.

Jewelry. A bit contrived, but jewelry is always a good idea for a woman. You’ll find that women really do love to glisten, at any age and from any creed. It’s a symbol of affection and appreciation, and the fact that the gift has no other purpose or meaning signals to women that it’s simply a gift that is meant to make her smile. Functional gifts are nice sometimes, but nothing says love like a trinket that has no other purpose than to show affection.

Feline Friendly Fashion

It’s true that crazy cat women are sometimes crazy, but at a deeper level they are just extremely empathetic, emotional women who are attracted to gentle, lovely creatures. They aren’t spinsters or nuts. They are adorable. Here’s how to get the cat lady look with simple designs like horn-rimmed glasses by MiuMiu or Prada and a few vintage clothing options.

First, you’ll want to frizz up your hair a bit, tease it up high and put it in a librarian’s bun. No crazy cat lady has soft, flowing locks. They prefer the teased up look that cat’s paws won’t get stuck in. These are complete cat folk, don’t forget.

The glasses are important. Horn-rimmed are ideal because they follow the contours of the feline form and are, frankly, a super cool fashion statement. After all, you need to spice up the look and make it more 21st century.

Cat ladies need pockets for cat treats, so you’ll need sweaters with lots of room for catnip, snacks, toys and string. We’re looking for stuff that can’t rip or tear easily on the feline claws, so leather is always good. Either that, or aim for cheap, replaceable clothing so you aren’t heartbroken when the cats rip up your threads.

Finally, cat ladies don’t wear high heels. Have you tried running after a stray in them? Not possible. Flats are best or short, stocky heels. Cat ladies are also fond of clothing with a small amount of sway, so cats aren’t scared of sudden appearances but can come to expect the approaching swirl of their favorite human.

Friendly, approachable fashion

Approachability means something different to everyone, but there are still a few key elements to a friendly wardrobe that are universal. First, if you are covered in kitch people will find you awkward. If you are covered in Prada people will find you too high-brow. Covered in dirty, unmarked clothing and you’ll come across as lazy or unkempt. So, how do you toe the line between too designer and too vintage? We’ll tell you.

Have you ever seen a movie where the star female character was covered in designer logos? Probably not, because really approachably fashionable women don’t need the credit name brands lend to make her look cool. Like the image here, of a girl that is fashionable and chic without trying too hard. You could walk up and talk to a girl like this. She isn’t super made up, and she could toss around a football with you or go dancing, all in the same outfit. Approachability.

Now imagine the girls you know who wear brand names, heels and who accessorize with tiny watches and dangling earrings and giant bracelets, all of which get in the way of her life (and interaction with others) without adding much to her look. You could still look hot and feminine with flat shoes and a watch where you can actually read the time or in jeans instead of a skin-tight skirt. High fashion may look cool, but it doesn’t look friendly. I’ve never wanted to hug a model on the runway (except, maybe, to warm her up as they always look freezing, pale and sickly on the catwalk).

Finding Time for You

In a hectic world of responsibilities, minimal free time, family and work hassles and a million other things going on in your head, how do you find time to be alone, to do the things you enjoy, to shop for the high-end Dior and Prada you daydream of wearing, or to simply sit and relax? Stress is one of the main causes of illness and disease, and is a serious killer. Stress wears on all of your organs, and brings down your immune system.

Its important to find time for yourself, even if its just a few moments in the morning of quiet meditation or relaxation before you start your day. Everyone has their ‘release’ and if you don’t find out what yours is and force the world to leave you alone long enough every day for you to enjoy your hobby, then you’ll eventually break down, or if you don’t break down emotionally your body will start to break down on its own in the form of attacking itself with disease. Its no small matter to live a stressful life, if you can’t enjoy yourself then what is the point? Naturally people have responsibilities they have to deal with but in the end if you can’t find a way to be happy you are in the wrong job, the wrong marriage or the wrong situation in life.

We suggest taking a day every week to yourself, and if that isn’t possible then taking a morning to yourself every once in a while is great way to release stress, even if you just lock yourself in a closet and watch TV.

Eyes and Allergies

When an allergy attack hits, the eyes are often hit the hardest. If you wear contact lenses like those by Focus or ClearVue, you know how important it is to avoid contact with allergens before your eyes become red and scratchy and your lenses start to feel irritating.

In spring, one of the best things to do if you suffer from allergies caused by outdoor pollen, or other unavoidable particulates, is to keep yourself constantly on an antihistamine. This is especially important if you are someone who wears contact lenses. In spring, you often see more people wearing glasses rather than contacts for just this reason, but there are highly moisture-rich contact lenses you can buy if you are too stubborn to revert to glasses.
You can also carry eye drops with you to put in your eyes whenever they feel itchy or red. This can temporarily relive eye strain but it isn’t a long-term solution. Still, in spring it isn’t a bad idea to carry this small item with you anyway.

If your allergies stem from felines or canines you may be able to simply avoid contact with pets. If, however, you are an animal lover you’ll have to keep yourself on drugs until modern medicine comes up with a better solution. There are shots you can get to help decrease your vulnerability to dander, but these are often administered weekly and can be bothersome.

If your eyes do get red and puffy right before a big event, consider tinted glasses or sunglasses to hide the worst of the redness. Nothing is more unattractive then red eyes, and there is no makeup you can buy to tint your eyes white again. You have to let mother nature run her course.
