ca0525.JPGIf you live in a cold-weather climate, you know the importance of high-quality, winter eyewear. The top brands for this are Oakley, Burberry, Prada, Police and Armani.

Burberry is the top name in designer winter eyewear. Having funded the Earnest Shackleton expedition to the South Pole, Burberry solidified its reputation as a leading designer of outdoor and winter wear. Their eyewear is especially good in high intensity situations or adverse weather conditions.

Oakley designs almost entirely for serious athletes. Their outdoor gear is top-notch and can perform well in some of the harshest climates. With specially designed aerodynamic frames and lenses, rain, snow and wind sweep over the sunglasses without allowing cold or weather into your eye. Additionally, Oakley’s extra coatings for the lenses ensure water is whisked quickly away and that hail or ice will not scratch the lenses.

Prada. Despite Prada’s image as a high-fashion, feminine design house their sunglasses are perfect for winter outdoors because the frames are large and block out peripheral glare, rain, snow and wind. If you want to stay in fashion and be well prepared for a harsh winter, Prada is one way to go. Make sure you buy Prada sunglasses with large, plastic frames. Medal frames may retain cold and cause you discomfort while plastic will remain sturdy and not freeze as easily.

Police. Police sunglasses are perfect for outdoor and winter wear because they have traditionally large frames as well as dark lenses that are perfect to combat the strong ice and snow glare as well as stylish and aerodynamic shapes to whisk wind away. Meanwhile, Police shades are one of the rising stars in the fashion community so you’ll be at the forefront of fashion while freezing on the tundra.

Giorgio Armani. Several models of GA eyewear are ideal for the outdoors. With plastic frames and high-quality hinges, Armani manages to hit the perfect blend of style and functionality. Armani plastic shades are superior in strength and durability, especially for the outdoor enthusiast.

Have you ever wondered who made the most badass sunglasses of all time? Ray Ban? Oakley? Whose the best? We’ve found a new way to tackle and answer the question. We’ve looked at the films with the manliest men and pulled their sunglasses fashion tips from the filmography.

Arnold, in Terminator, wears Oakley in Terminator 2, according to Van Ling. The famous black shades from Terminator 1 were gargoyles. Get the look with Oakley sunglasses or newer men’s Dior designs, which have similar strong lines and bold shapes.

Surprisingly, the red glasses in X-men worn by Cyclops were also made by Oakley and not of custom design. While not the manliest man in the series, you have to admit that Cyclops has a more sever and ultimately remarkable power than the ever-popular Wolverine. Hugh Jackman (Wolverine) wears Ray-Bans in X-men 1 and 2.

ca0519_2.JPGDwayne Johnson, better known as The Rock, has branched out into a quite impressive acting career, the highlight of which was The Rundown, where Mr. Johnson faced a barrage of opponents and defeated them with comedy and super badass boxing and wrestling moves. He wore gold-trimmed Ray Bans throughout the film. Similarly, in Walking Tall, Dwayne also wore Ray Ban’s while doing some serious damage on the town’s bad guys.

Antonio Bandaras, a man to make the most manly look meek, wears Police sunglasses, and liked the designs so much he became a spokesman (we never refer to men as models) for the brand.

Ray Ban Aviators- Made famous by Gen. Douglas McArthur in WWII, the Aviators have become the most enduring design in all of eyewear. Originally designed for a pilot who complained that aviation eyewear was never classy,

Ray Ban rose to the task of reconciling fashion with function. Hollywood has been Ray Ban’s biggest supporter. In Tom Gun, they were Ray Ban’s that Tom Cruise was sporting as he drove around town on his sputtering motorcycle. They are worn today by both Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, aspiring philanthropists, parents and A-list stars, and by Bam and Johnny Knoxville, who put dynamite in strange body parts for amusement.

Ray Ban Wayfarers have been worn by nearly every Hollywood giant since they were seen in Breakfast at Tiffany’s and then the Blues Brothers. Tom Cruise, an avid Ray Ban fan, wore them in Risky Business. An entire movement in late 2008, early 2009 has centered around a reemergence of the Wayfarer style, and young stars like Kirstin Dunst, the Olsen twins and Lindsey Lohan have been photographed in the traditional bold, colorful plastic Wayfarer frames.

Tom Ford Whitney’s deserve a place on the list as another Hollywood favorite, which thus propelled the brand and their classic designs into the mainstream look. Jennifer Aniston wears nothing but Tom Fords, and has a design variation of the Whitney called the Jennifer. Angelina Jolie has a small collection of Tom Ford Whitney’s, the most popular design in Tom Ford’s massive collection. Demi Moore and Cortney Cox are also fans, and their popularity in the late 90’s and early 21st century has elevated the look.

Though the most popular shades of all time are quite similar in appearance, this simply proves that the look is both timeless, capable of variation and versatile in wearability. For a sure thing, check out any of these three designs.
